
Step 1:
Call the jail the defendant is in and get the charges and bonding information through the booking office.
Note: Know the bond amount, charges, what jail the person is in, their date of birth and when the defendant was arrested.
Step 2:
Next, you need call Troy’s Bail Bonds at (504) 828-8769 and explain your relationship and the circumstances of the person currently incarcerated.
Note: You’ll need to provide any information requested by the bondsman to guarantee credibility including a valid form of identification. At this point, you will be responsible for cosigning that the defendant will appear at all court dates until the case is closed. If they don’t appear to any one court date throughout the process, you WILL BE LIABLE and can be charged a hefty fine. Alternatively, since this is a commercial bond backed by an insurance company, the insurance company will go after the bondsman, who will then go after you to recoup the full amount of the bond.
Step 3:
Prepare to secure the amount that will be needed to get the bond written.
Note: The cost for a bond vary ranging from 12%-13% plus any jail fees depending on what jail the defendant is located in. If you are unable to secure the full amount needed, a payment plan can be negotiated with a down payment for select clients.
Step 4:
If an agreement has been reached for payment, the defendant’s release will be processed at the jail in a timely manner.
